Twelve months later the service is celebrating its first birthday and solid growth to what now amounts to over 31,000 applications and games, driven by the excellent sales success of the Kindle Fire , was able to grow fast and carve out a small part of success among developers.
Speaking of numbers, the debut of the original store had about 4000 applications and we are now well in the past 31,000 games and programs offering deep discounts and promotions every week. For the occasion, Amazon has also released a ranking of the most downloaded titles during those 12 months between those paid and free services.

Barnes and Noble Nook Tablet 8GB officially available for $199
Barnes & Noble has announced the 8GB version of Nook Tablet today. Targeted to compete directly with Amazon Kindle Fire, Nook Tablet 8GB has been priced at $199, the same price at which Fire is currently retailing. The 16GB version of Nook Tablet will continue to see for $249. On the other hand, Nook Color’s price has been reduced to just $169 now.
Nook Tablet in the 8GB version is immediately available and orderable on the official website Nook.com and authorized shops. The specifications are similar than the version already on the market by using the same 7-inch display, dual core processor with 1 GHz, 512MB of RAM (1GB for the 16GB version), 8 GB of memory, microSD slot and battery with a ' range of approximately 11 hours.
