Qualcomm announces low-power NFC chips
The NFC (Near Field Communications) technology, although not yet fully exploited and used, is present and is expanding more and more on next-generation devices.
The current chips that are used for this wireless transmission technology for short-range, they require more energy and thus the battery life will be shortened a lot.
The Qualcomm Atheros , a subsidiary of Qualcomm , has intervened with the announcement of a new NFC chip, code-named QCA1990 , smaller size and requires much less energy, all for the benefit of battery life on devices that will implemented.

Qualcomm teases competitors by comparing its Snapdragon processors against the competition
Qualcomm came up with the new video posted on its YouTube official channel that puts in contrast the Snapdragon processors against the Intel Medfield processor. In the video it is shown how the old processor Snapdragon S2 Single Core Xperia Arc released in 2010, is able to offer the best solution to mach or even beat the performance of what Intel presented this year.

HTC to be first manufacturer to market S4 Snapdragon Pro devices?

Snapdragon SDK for Android now available for download & installation
Qualcomm continues to offer content development to the community and after the release of recent months regarding the source code of Adreno GPU,at an event dedicated to developers, the company announces the release of SDK dedicated to their Snapdragon S4 cpu . All this translates to programmers and modders in a greater integration of the platform, bringing improved performance thanks to the opening of the new APIs and a more extensive compatibility for applications that require support.

Rumor:Microsoft testing Windows Phone 8 with dual-core Snapdragon S4
As was reported by TheVerge Microsoft engineers are testing the new MSM8960 chipset from Qualcomm on Windows Phone. The Dual Core clocked at 1.5Ghz should go into business with Windows Phone 8 in the second half of 2012.
Meanwhile it seems that the American operator Sprint is very interested in launching a new terminal operating system with Microsoft, but it should do so before the arrival of Windows Phone 8.The first manufacturer to have received the specifications for Sprint, LTE or more processor MSM8960, would your Nokia. It is therefore reasonable to expect the first dual-core Nokia in the second half of 2012?
Please note that this processor, better known as Qualcomm S4, these days at the Mobile World Congress is amazing some beating all the benchmarks and actual performance of NVidia Tegra 3 (quad core).

The Colossus of San Diego has officially launched its challenge to Nvidia announced the presentation of the Snapdragon GameCommand , pooling all the platform games optimized for devices with Qualcomm hardware, just as it does now TegraZone.

NTT Docomo, Panasonic, Samsung and more team up to take the battle to Qualcomm over cellphone chips
NTT DOCOMO, INC. announced today that it has reached a basic agreement with five companies - Fujitsu Ltd., Fujitsu Semiconductor Ltd., NEC Corporation, Panasonic Mobile Communications Co., Ltd. and Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. - to establish a fabless joint venture company by the end of March 2012 to develop and sell semiconductor products for mobile devices.
The joint venture company, leveraging the six investing companies' strong backgrounds in cellular communication technology and vast experience in application specific integrated circuits (ASIC) design and foundry manufacturing, will develop feature-rich, small-size, low-power-consumption semiconductor products equipped with modem functionality. The joint venture company will focus on developing products for LTE and LTE-Advanced mobile communication standards.
The products will be sold in markets globally. The envisioned joint venture company will be formed once all parties agree on the details, which are now being worked out through consultation.
Following the basic agreement announced today, and as part of preparing to form the joint venture company, DOCOMO plans to invest 450 million Japanese yen, or about 5.8 million USD*, to establish a wholly owned subsidiary, called Communication Platform Planning Co., Ltd. and headed by CEO Mitsunobu Komori, concurrently an executive vice president and Chief Technical Officer of DOCOMO, by the middle of January.
