Nokia Lumia 920 vs. Nokia 808 PureView - The differences between the cameras explained by Damian Dinning

Damian Dinning,  the most authoritative voice when you look at the Nokia cameraphone, explained in detail the main differences between the camera of the Nokia Lumia 920 and the Nokia 808 PureView. Both smartphones feature a camera called "PureView" but have important differences.
"PureView" has become a real commercial brand that identifies the camera developed by Nokia, can offer a level of performance higher than that made possible by cameraphone competitors. In its second white paper dedicated camera of Lumia 920, the producer has already made it clear that there are several ways to get a major boost of performance of the camera.

The paths chosen by the Nokia Lumia 920 and the Nokia 808 PureView are different, the same as Damian Dinning says.

The guru of the camera Nokia summarized the main differences between the two cameraphone with the eloquent series of tweets which is shown below:
  • In situations where the camera shake is not a problem, the Nokia 808 provides more detailed image with less noise thanks all'oversampling
  • In situations where camera shake is evident both in the photos, and the videos (usually condiziondi in low light), the Lumia 920 will perform better with all'OIS
  • In low light conditions, if the devices are hand-held (ie no tripod) and used in automatic mode, the Lumia 920 will be improved thanks all'OIS (produce bright images and blur-free)
  • The Nokia 808 is used in night mode or with manual ISO will speed 2.7 seconds and this figure will be able to produce better images with all'oversampling
  • In the videos, for many users, thanks all'OIS, you will get more fluid video with the Lumia 920
  • In the video, the Nokia 808 PW will perform better relying on very powerful zoom and quality made possible by the resolution of the sensor
  • As regards the quality of the video recording, the difference is that the Lumia 920 is mono, while the 808 is stereo
  • The Nokia 808 PW has a digital zoom that can be exploited optimally during image capture (not just video)
  • The Nokia Lumia 920, thanks to the new possibilities offered by the platform Windows Phone 8 can take advantage of a number of important applications such as Smart Shoot and Cinemagraph
Find a winner in an absolute sense is not a correct view of the fact that there will be situations in which the pixel oversampling of the Nokia 808 PureView will make a difference and others that can be tackled more easily thanks to the optical image stabilizer of the Lumia 920. The choice between the two camera varies depending on the habits of those which are usually followed by users during shooting. Those who prefer close-ups might look with interest the digital zoom dell'808 PureView, those who love the shots at night with long exposures could properly take advantage of the optical stabilizer of the Lumia 920.
The statements Dinning also clarify the aspect of sound recording. As mentioned yesterday, the Nokia Lumia 920 uses three HAAL microphones. The figure was also confirmed by Damian Dinning, which, however points out that the audio recording will be monaural  and stereo as that of the Nokia 808 PureView.
Other important data that can be gained by recent statements by Dinning, is for a greater ease of use of the camera of the Lumia 920 in low light conditions,  compared to that of the Nokia 808 PureView. The latter, which are more suitable for experienced users, it can produce good results in low light, speaking on the ISO manually or using the night mode and using a tripod. The optical Image Stabilizer, the bright lens and automatic mode Lumia 920 produce the same results without requiring specific user intervention.
