Nokia and Samsung working on 3D mobile displays

Until now, only LG and HTC have decided to produce smartphone with 3D display, but something could change in coming months. Recently, Nokia and Samsung have managed to register patents at the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) on the 3D technology.
The patent Nokia plans to use a screen capable of handling images in two and three dimensions, probably with a switch that would allow the transition from 2D to 3D. The display should also provide a stereoscopic view of reality in three dimensions: the eyes see the same scene from two different positions, the brain combines these two images and computes the depth.
Clearly it is difficult to predict if and when Nokia will start producing and selling 3D display device, since Windows Phone seems very far away from this technology. Things change when you consider Samsung: Android and is ready for many months PlayStore contains several exclusive titles for smartphones 3D.
